This is a beautiful, one of a kind sketch of a mother tenderly nursing her child. Done in pen and ink, this sketch uses several shading techniques to illustrate the various aspects of the scene. With excellent use of simple lines, the artist manages to capture the loving gaze of a mother toward her child. The clothing style of the baby suggests this was created in the early to mid-twentieth century.
The artist’s signature appears to be Merion Russin, though it could be something similar. There are a couple, minor areas of foxing on the top of the drawing, though it is otherwise in excellent condition. The paint on the frame has a few scratches and chips, but remains in good, vintage condition. The frame is no longer sealed, but is still securely closed. Measuring 4 ¼” wide by 3” long, this unique sketch would look perfect in almost any foyer or hall.
