This Victorian bracelet is truly unparalleled as far as quality, beauty and collectability are concerned. The bracelet is solid 15K gold and has been acid tested and electronically tested for purity.
It still sits gracefully in its original box; both are over 100 years old and remain in remarkable condition.
This piece is wonderful representation of Etruscan Revival, a style which enjoyed a resurgence of popularity during the Victorian era.
The Etruscan civilization dominated what is now northern Italy from about 700 B.C. to 300 B.C.; jewelry at the time was characterized by the use of opulent gold and fine, granulated embellishment.
Granulation, in this case, refers to the tiny side by side applied balls and thin strips of gold to create a pattern and texture.
You can see that this bracelet features extraordinary decoration in the central diamond shape, in and around the twelve half seed pearls and continuing down the sides.
The bracelet opens on one side with a tiny hinge and closes on the other and is secured with a simple nesting box clasp. An attached safety chain provides a bit of extra security during wear.
Despite some minor dents on the bottom exterior, some very minor surface scratching and some slight darkening, the bracelet is in otherwise very good antique condition. The small flower decoration within the central diamond shape is missing a single petal, though this is a minor and does not detract from the overall aesthetic of the bracelet.
Part of what makes this gorgeous bracelet so wonderful is the original box in which it's housed. The box is in a circular shape but is flat on the bottom, allowing it to sit flat on a surface.
The top opens in two parts revealing a satin lined interior and blue velvet cushion in which the bracelet stands up, perfectly displayed and protected.
A small brass hinge at the top keeps the box securely closed and though it shows some signs of wear, it too, remains in great antique condition.
This is an absolutely breath taking piece of antique jewelry and a must have for the discerning collector.
