This vintage hat has some serious character and sensational style.
The hat is made of a superb quality wool and casein blend in a incredibly chic shade of cornflower-blue.
As you can see, the crown is blocked in a slightly rounded, unique shape while the brim extends outward creating a functional and elegant visor.
A narrow ribbon of purple-gray grosgrain wraps around the outer band and culminates in the back with a great big square bow. The tails of the bow show a teeny bit of fraying on the ends.
It's the decorative hatpins that give this vintage beauty its character.
Each hat pin features an enormous velour cube shape on the ends. One is a light peach-color while the other is a vivid rosy-red.
The brass pins include removable caps, so as to avoid any undue poking. As you can see, the brass shows a little pit of expected oxidization.
Inside, the hat remains unlined as it is often unnecessary to include a lining in woolen hats of such exceptional quality. However, a narrow band of grosgrain lines the inner-band.
You will find a size tag stitched to the grosgrain ribbon which reads "23".
Finally, a manufacturer's mark is imprinted on the underside of the crown and reads "Made in U.S.A., Merrimac Hat Corp., 94% Wool – 6% Casein Fiber".
Though the hats shows some expected wear and one or two immaterial moth-bites, it remains in excellent vintage condition.
