Here is a sensational vintage hat with over-the-top elegance and character.

Like many hats dating from the 1940s, this one has a relatively small crown and an enormous brim.

Under the wide brim you will find a little cap complete with a grosgrain ribbon lining the interior band and two small elastic cords (these will keep the hat perfectly in place).

You will find the original designer's label sewn to the grosgrain ribbon; it reads "Isaac Long, Wilkes-Barre, PA" as well a size tag reading "New York Creation, 22".

Isaac Long's was a well known, high end (luxury) department store in the public square in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Isaac Long, originally from Bavaria, started the department store in 1874, and he died in 1893.

The store was subsequently run by his grandson, Julius Long Stern.

It was considered quite a landmark in Wilkes Barre until its closure in 1972.

The edge of the brim is trimmed with a gorgeous woven motif of shimmering black plastic.

This gives the otherwise demure black felt a touch of shine.

A sweet little bow further embellishes the top of the hat near the crown.

The woven black embellishment shows only a tiny bit of wear, but this gorgeous hat remains in spectacular condition overall.

Interior circumference (of small interior cap): 20", Brim circumference: 46 3/4", Vertical height: 2 3/4", Brim width: 6" (front) and 4 1/2" (back), Length (front to back) 15", Width (side to side): 16"
Weight: 105 grams (4 oz)
