This darling little cap is made of the most luxurious black velvet. It dates from approximately the late 1940s and is in truly stellar condition.
The hat is shallow so that it would have rested daintily on the crown of the head (to be secured with a hat pin, of course) and features fantastic embellishments.
As you can see, a thin ribbon of black grosgrain surrounds the band while a little flap on the right side features an absolutely stunning rhinestone brooch.
The brooch boasts an enormous clear chaton at the center and is surrounded by a frame of clear baguettes.
Our favorite part is the cute black tassel that hangs from the bottom of the brooch.
The rhinestone piece really is a brooch in every sense of the word with a traditional roll over clasp on the reverse.
The interior of the hat is lined with fabulous plaid silk. The fabric is in perfect condition and the colors are still wonderfully vibrant.
The interior band is lined with a wide ribbon of salmon pink grosgrain.
This is where you will find the original "Neiman-Marcus" tag as well as a size-tag reading "22".
This beauty is in absolutely pristine condition!
