These fabulous vintage bookends are an extraordinary find. Each depicts the likeness of a seated pharaoh reading from a scroll that rests upon his lap.
The base on which he sits is engraved with various hieroglyphics on the front and sides, while the reverse shows a beautifully carved scarab in low-relief.
Each bookend is comprised of bronze-clad cast iron and shows a remarkable amount of detail to the face and bodies of the pharaohs.
Green felt in excellent condition lines the bottom of each bookend to prevent scratching.
Some verdigris can be seen on the piece, though rather than detract, this only serves to accentuate the age and draw out the fine details.
In overall fantastic vintage condition, this set of gorgeous bookends is the ideal addition to any collection.
These have a wonderful tactile feel and are very substantial.
They are hefty and smooth. We really like how substantial they are in weight, color and shape.
These are a shop favorite.
