This stunning vintage hat is a super-luxe and elegant example of 1940s style at its best.
The tall, cloche-style hat is covered in patches of luxurious velvet in subdued, organic shades of brown, mauve and greenish-gray.
As you can see, the velvet is arranged in textural "pinwheels" which give the hat a truly distinctive look.
The raw-edges of the sumptuous fabric adds another degree of dimensions and texture to the hat's unique style.
Inside, the rigid hat is lined with dark mauve lave.
This is where you will find the original retailer's and designer's fabric tags. The first tag reads "L.S. Ayres & Co, Indianapolis".
Founded in 1872, L.S. Ayres & Co. became one of Indiana's finest, most popular department stores.
The last fabric tag reads "Mr. Milton".
Though the hat shows only the slightest amount of wear, and one or two loose threads here and there, it remains in outstanding vintage condition overall.
This fits down on the head rather that "on top". It looks really cool with your hair tucked up underneath.
Our hats are stored, wrapped in archival paper and moisture free containers to maintain their condition.
They are shipped in oversized boxes and very carefully packaged to make sure they do not sustain any damage in transit.
It is a beauty to be sure.
