This vintage pewter plane is a replica of the classic B-52 subsonic jet.
Originally contracted in 1946, the B-52 was built to carry nuclear weapons for Cold-War era deterrence missions. There are currently 85 active B-52's; the United States Air Force intends to continue using the planes until the year 2040.
This (very) miniature version was manufactured by the renowned pewter company, Rawcliffe. A stamped maker's mark on the underside of the miniature reads "Rawcliffe Pewter ©1982".
It features a nice amount of detail, and remains in excellent vintage condition showing only a few minor areas of wear.
This would be the perfect stocking stuffer or "any occasion" gift.
