Here is an absolutely CLASSIC vintage pedal car from renowned manufacturer Murray. What says Christmas morning better than a bright red toy car?
This is the Murray AMC Firebird model and dates from the early 1960's.
The car has a great American-muscle look with a candy-apple finish and white racing-stripes on each side. It is made of heavy-gauge steel and remains in great working condition.
While the white stripe decals on the sides are not original to the piece, we think they definitely make it look faster! The base paint is also not original to the car.
The pedals are housed under the hood and control the rear wheels. The mechanism still works fantastically. The white, oblong steering wheel controls the front wheels.
There is a little seat above the back wheels that features nice stamped detail.
All four tires are original, and remain in very good condition.
The wheel-wells are painted bright white to match the steering wheel and are topped off with classic silver-tone hubcaps. All four hubcaps are original and are embossed with the Murray "M" logo.
It's the little details like the silver-painted "grill" and bumper that make this car an amazing collector's piece.
It is incredibly difficult to find these little pedal cars in such fantastic condition.
As you can see, the finish shows some wear and a few minor scuffs. The steering wheel also shows a bit of finish loss. Finally, the right driver's-side wheel is ever so slightly bent.
Otherwise, this Murray Pedal Car remains in great vintage condition.
This is the kind of piece that will make a charming décor accent and addition to your personal collection.
