We are thrilled to present this dazzling vintage servingware set from the world-renowned silver manufacturing company, Gorham.
These are incredibly substantial pieces. Their classic pattern withstand the tests of time and make wonderful serving pieces.
Gorham Silver was found in 1831, in Providence, Rhode Island by Jabez Gorham. The company would soar to success during from the 1850's to the 1940's, a time when silver manufacturing was in its heyday in America.
This set, which includes a large serving ladle, serving fork, and pierced pea-spoon, bears the incredibly elegant "La Scala" pattern, which was first introduced by Gorham in 1964.
The pattern is characterized by a classically chic, traditional design featuring stamped florals, foliate scrolling and elegant beading.
As you can see, the pattern encompasses the handle as well as the shoulders of both spoons and the fork.
You will find several Gorham hallmarks (including the company's traditional "three-cartouche-mark" on the reverse of each piece near the base of the handle.
The first mark features a right-facing lion passant and is followed by an anchor enclosed in a shield-shape. The last mark in the set of three is an Old English capital "G" for "Gorham".
Eras of manufacture are indicated by the shape of each cartouche; the octagonal shapes represent items created in the 20th century.
The final mark reads "Gorham Sterling".
Each piece in the set bears a hand-engraved mark on the reverse which reads "KNAP".
It was not uncommon for heirloom silver to be marked with a family's last name.
While both spoons and fork exhibit some very minor patination and few light surface scratches, this timeless serving set remains in very good vintage condition.
This set is sure to be a glittering centerpiece for your holiday and special-occasion entertaining.
