This exceptional vintage hat from Lilly Dache's "Dachettes" line is made from tactile black velvet and boasts the most wonderful big-beret shape.
Parallel rows of elegant black top-stitching run around the length of the widest part of the exterior while the band features a similar motif. A big, beautiful bow in the same shade of velvet stands out subtly from the band, adding that extra element of aesthetic interest.
France born, Lilly Dache was the most famous milliner in the United States during her time. She began designing and creating at the age of 14 in France and in the early 20's married into the Coty empire. Her most famous designs were turbans and berets as featured here among other designs.
The interior boasts a silky black lining that is in excellent condition, as does the wide black grosgrain ribbon around the inside of the band.
The original silken designer's tag remains perfectly intact and securely affixed to the interior; it reads "Dachettes, Designed by Lilly Daché". There is another tiny tag nestled behind this which says "UNION Made EO 808906 In U.S.A."
In almost perfect condition, this hat would make the perfect gift, but would look just as good in your own private collection.
Better yet, wear it!
