This fantastic vintage cigarette case and lighter speaks to all of the elegance and style of the 1930's.
The case is from the renowned company, Ronson, which got its start in 1929, with Lytacase. This first case-lighter was a huge hit and the company capitalized on its popularity.
This model case-lighter is the popular "Pal" model. It features a distinctly Art Deco sleek, geometric style with a rich faux tortoise-shell finish.
The front of the case features a wide strip of dark, almost opaque tortoise shell while the sides a lighter, more marbled variety. Silvertone borders complement the style perfectly while a large silvertone diamond-shape graces adorns the center.
The back of the case uses the same deep, dark faux tortoise shell finish.
The interior of the case exhibits an artistic engine-turned decoration on both case and lid. There is a hinged arm on the case side for holding the cigarettes securely in place.
We're so thrilled to say that the lighter mechanism still works perfectly; it is just in need of fluid and a new wick. The underside of the mechanism is stamped with several company marks. The first reads "Ronson Trademark Reg'd, PAL" and "Ronson Newark, N.J., U.S.A., U.S. Patent Re-19023, Canada Pats. 288148-289889".
The case remains in excellent condition with one teeny dent on the front and a scratch on the back. These are negligible when considering the overall beauty of the piece.
This fantastic case-lighter comes with its original packaging; a reddish brown box with the company name, Ronson, the style, "Pal", and the tagline "World's Greatest Lighter" as well a simple off-center linear decoration. The box is a bit worn but in good condition overall. The original dust cover is also contained inside the box.
These case-lighters are wildly collectible and fantastically stylish. We know you'll love this baby as much as we do.
