This is a great, BIG vintage doctor's bag made of beautiful oxidized leather.
Measuring almost 19 inches long, it truly is a fantastic size. As you can see, the high-quality cowhide is embossed with a classy faux alligator skin pattern.
The exterior leather shows surface wear and mottled coloration, but we think this gives the bag incredible and rich character.
Two rigid leather-covered handles at the top are attached to the bag with patinated brass loops.
The mouth of the bag expands widely to reveal a completely leather-lined interior. The inside features sienna-red vinyl dividers for keeping papers or accessories neatly organized.
A brass locking mechanism keeps the bag securely closed, though the key has been lost. The clasp stays together nicely, but does not lock.
9 rounded brass feet on the bottom of the bag help to prevent any scratching to the leather.
Though the bag shows a fair amount of cosmetic wear, the incredible quality still shines through.
From masterful heavy-duty top stitching to the high quality leather, this beauty really speaks to a time when things were created with durability in mind.
You will find an embossed hallmark on the underside of the bag that reads Knickerbocker Case Co., Chicago, Top Grain Genuine Cowhide, Pat. Pend.
Despite the aesthetic wear and expected signs of age, this beautiful doctor's bag remains in good vintage condition.
These make fantastic decor items, adding rich color and retro appeal.
