To an 18th Century American cabinetmaker, wood could be a treasure. The best boards were turned into masterpieces. The beautiful figured black walnut top on tapering legs ending in pad feet is a fine and rare example. Excellent original condition, old surface. Circa 1740. Similar to an example in Joseph Downs’ book.
