Circa 1940s, this is a very small charm for the letter 'N'. The quality of these older letter charms is wonderful, with a metal surround and back and a rich red semi-translucent glass enamel set flush with the edging. The very edge of the enameling is slightly darker, almost maroon color and is opaque, adding even more interest. Perfect to add a spot of color to your bracelet with an initial that has meaning to you. The enamel may have the tiniest of nicks visible in the highly magnified photos, but to the naked eye it looks perfect.
These older enameled letters are not found very often, and most of them are blue. Far more unusual to find them in red!
Unmarked for silver content. It is silver-colored. Some of these charms are found with a STG mark, others are unmarked sterling, and some are a base metal. I can not tell the difference, and regardless, the quality is lovely.
Shown in the last photo next to a dime for scale. This charm is VERY small.
