Nicely detailed charm of a mountain lion, panther, or cougar on a plinth. The Nittany Lion is the mascot of Penn State's athletic teams, and this charm is very similar to the Nittany Lion shrine, a large mountain lion sculpture carved by Heinz Warneke located at the University Park campus of the Pennsylvania State University. The mascot was 'invented' in 1904, and the sculpture was a gift from the class of 1940, dedicated and installed in 1942. The charm is in very good condition with a nice patina.
Marked sterling on one edge of the base.
The base measures 7/8" by 1/8" deep. It is 1/2" tall. Shown in the last photo next to a dime for scale.
