MYLU made several versions of its WINKING SANTA Christmas pin. This one features a clear rhinestone pom pom or tassel at the tip of his cap. The stone has plenty of sparkle! The finish on the red-painted cap and white-painted beard is also in excellent condition with only some teeny spots of loss on the cap. The curly-cue rim of Santa's cap has an Etruscan feel to it, and Santa has a wide-open green rhinestone eye and a red-bead nose. All aspects of this pin are in overall excellent condition.
This fun pin has many of the features I associate with MYLU: beautiful craftsmanship, their trademark metallic paints/enamels, rhinestone embellishments, and excellent plating of gold-tone.
The back is marked MYLU. One of the nice features of Mylu pins is that the pin mechanism is attached at both ends and not a separate light-weight riveted pin back. The rollover safety clasp pin mechanism is in fine working order.
Measures approximately 2 1/4” tall by 1” wide. In the last photo it is shown beside a quarter for scale.
MYLU is my absolute favorite maker of Christmas jewelry. Established by Lynne Gordon and Marge Borofsky in the 1960s, MYLU was in business for a relatively short time. It became a division of Coro in 1968, and closed in the early 1970s. This is one of several MYLU pins I have for sale in my shop.
