#1719 'Midnight Blues' Ken Doll Clothes Original 1972 Complete Tuxedo Outfit by Mattel

This belonged to me, and was received for Christmas in 1972. It's one of five complete Ken doll outfits I have. It's in overall very good condition with the exception of a seam separation in the front of one sleeve of the tuxedo jacket. It's easily seen in the photos, and I've attached a photo of a close-up as seen from the inside.

This outfit is called 'Midnight Blues', and is a fancy dress tuxedo. It's relatively hard to find a complete version of this outfit. It consists of a midnight blue 'satin' tux jacket with a black satin color, a long-sleeved ivory white tuxedo shirt with lace trim and attached black tie at the neck, black trousers / pants, black socks, and black shoes. With the exception of the tux jacket, all components are in excellent condition with no stains, holes, or tears. The jacket has a single snap, and the shirt has two snaps, all of which are well-attached and haven't rusted. Could definitely use an ironing or pressing. They've been in clean, dry storage for over forty years.

Regarding the seam separation in the jacket: it appears that the warp and weft threads have slid apart. I believe it could be repaired by someone with patience and the skills to work with such small clothing, and would require that the fabric be stabilized with some very sheer dark interfacing so the stitches would have something to grab onto.

The 'Ken Mattel' tag is sewn into the inside neck of the jacket. I'll include the generic doll clothes hanger it's been stored with all these years!
