This is a B&K vintage souvenir charm for the Adirondack Natural Stone Bridge in upstate New York. Located in a privately-owned tourist park called Natural Stone Bridge and Caves Park in Pottersville, NY, and not far from Lake George is this beautifully scenic park with woodland trails, streams that disappear underground into marble caves, deep gorges, and of course the natural stone bridge. This place is less than seventy miles from where I grew up and I never knew it existed until researching this charm. That is one of the true joys of a Bates and Klinke charm... learning about some of the hidden gems of real-life, many of which still exist. If you haven't already, go visit, and take the kids or grand-kids and get this charm to commemorate the trip!
The charm is the small round shape, one of the several distinctive shapes that make the Bates & Klinke charms so easy to recognize. Bates & Klinke made the most wonderful souvenir charms for national parks and other tourist attractions all over the country. They're among my favorite charms!
Marked sterling on the back with the Bates & Klinke maker's mark. In good vintage condition. The detail is very crisp for such a small charm, and the patina really accentuates the design. The back shows some wear to the finish, which was rhodium plated at one time.
This is the smallest of the BK shapes and measures slightly more than 3/8" across. Although this listing is for a single charm, the last photo includes a variety of the shapes in which B&K charms were made, displayed around a dime for scale.
