This sterling silver puffy heart features an applied anchor, one of the emblems for the United States Navy. Because these charms peaked in popularity in the early 1940s during the height of WW2 and were often given as sweetheart tokens of love and affection, there is a wonderful selection of hearts for every branch of the U.S. military.
The detail is wonderful. It's a very nice quality puffy heart as the base, with a flat top. To this has been applied a detailed anchor and rope with the letters USN. Very three-dimensional, and perfect for the lover of hearts with American historic or patriotic design. The background under the applied emblem is darkly patinated and is worn in spots.
The back of the heart is marked sterling, and has been professionally engraved with the name 'Fran' in pretty script, with a small flourish beneath. The silver has a soft patina and with only minor wear, this heart is in very good vintage condition. Circa 1940s.
Measures approximately 5/8" tall, average puffy heart size.
