Vintage Sterling Silver Grapes Bunch Figural Brooch Taxco Mexico

Offering a vintage sterling silver figural brooch pin depicting a bunch of grapes with a 3 dimensional design. This piece also has two large grape leaves and vines. We love the stacked half beads that represent grapes, such a fun design. A great gift for a wine lover and a lovely celebration piece.

SIZE Brooch measures 2 inches tall by 1.875 inches wide. Weighs 18.5 grams.

AGE 1980s to 1990s

MARKS Hallmarked 925 for sterling silver plus TC 73 Mexico. This is the newer hallmark system put in place after 1979 which identifies this as a piece made in Taxco with C 73 identifying the silversmith. Tests as sterling silver with jeweler's acid.

SYMBOLISM or HISTORY As humans need food to live, it's no wonder that we have associated many foods with magical properties through history. Wine, and accordingly grapes, are symbolic for blood and red wine is used in many rituals as a substitute for blood. CONDITION: Soft patina on the silver. Roll over safety clasp in working condition. As this piece is shiny silver, the camera reflection can be seen in the photos. Excellent vintage conditon.
