This proud bird was carved from a single, softwood, log and stands 31 1/4" tall.
The form is a bald eagle atop a rocky perch. The folk carving is well done of a muscular eagle standing on slender legs and talons. The paint decoration is especially nice with feathery texturing work throughout but exceptional on the neck and head.
Condition is good with a tight age split from the base to the neck on the right side. There is also a small chip out of the base. Surface condition is otherwise excellent.
The work is unsigned but has the number H918 on the base which may be a museum inventory number.
