This diminutive trinket box (6 1/4" by 4 1/8" by 3 1/16th tall) in oak, has cut-nail construction with a peg-hinged top and applied internal lock with triangular escutcheon.

The decoration is bold horizontal floral designs on the top and four sides in red, green, yellow and white against a lack background.

Condition is very good with some paint scuffing to the front left. The surface is original and untouched. The lock latch-plate and key are missing.

This box dates to the early to mid-19th Century and is likely northern European. The style is similar to, and may have influenced, Jonas Weber (1772-1865) of Lancaster, PA.
