This wooden banner weathervane was removed from a barn in the Hudson Valley area. Cut from a single plank of softwood it measures 4' 6 1/2" long and 8 1/2" tall. It retains its original white paint. It likely dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's.
Holes were drilled in the front end and filled with lead to create the necessary balance for a working weathervane.
White was a favorite color for the early painted wooden weathervanes. This one will make a dramatic wall display.
