This was sold by Alfred Field & Co., Inc. New York. Field was the U.S. agent for Taylor but closed his operation in 1933.
This is Taylor's set #2 consisting of 9 sweeps, 7 1/2" to 8" long with natural wood handles and brass ferules. Each is marked "H.Taylor" and "Made in England."
The set has never been used and never even honed. The box is all there but in sad shape.
The firm of Henry Taylor, Acorn Works is still in business today making high-end carving tools in Sheffield, UK.
It is hard to find a near 100 year old set of carving tools that has never been used, especially from a quality maker such as Taylor.
