We fell in love with the diminutive size and wonderful color of this dome top chest. It measures 24" wide by 13" deep and 11 3/4" tall.

The design is red paint over a natural stain which gives a wonderfully muted look to the piece.

The construction is dovetail and the hinges and mortise lock are original. The rawhide handles appear to be replacements. The surface is original.

The inner lid had been lined with newspapers showing dates of August 13, 1806 and April 9,1817 - suggesting a date around 1817. The articles further suggest the chest was made in the North Hampton, Virginia area.

Decorated chests of this size and condition are a real treasure.

Due to it's size, we will quote shipping with your interest.
