Originally one side of a "Shoe Fly" rocking horse, this painted, wooden horse on rocker has wonderful decorative appeal all on its own. It stands 16" tall and 33 1/2" long. It is cut from a single board, with attached rocker, and retains its original red surface. The wear and patina attest to a well loved and used past.
Judging from the surface and remnants of early wire nails, we believe this to be a ca. 1900 piece.
A picture wire hanger has been added to facilitate wall display.
This is one of those simple folk pieces where form, color, wear and patina combine for great visual impact.
