Vintage Black Americana Painted Tin Roadside Sign - "Spats"Vintage Black Americana Painted Tin Roadside Sign - "Spats"Vintage Black Americana Painted Tin Roadside Sign - "Spats"Vintage Black Americana Painted Tin Roadside Sign - "Spats"

These wonderfully colorful signs were made to be nailed to barns or early sign boards to advertise local merchants. This particular sign advertises "C.E. Mapes Furniture and Undertaking" in Durand, Michigan. The combination of furniture and undertaking was not uncommon in the early days. This sign dates to the early 1900's.

This sheet metal sign is 12" wide and 48" tall. The multi=color design uses a character sketch to draw attention to the message. We call this guy "Spats."

The sign has been attached to a modern frame for protection and ease of display. The condition is good but with multiple nail holes from repeated use.

Due to the oversize, shipping costs will be quoted with your interest. The sign can be viewed at our shop in the Old State Theater Antique Mall, 421 Locust Street in Columbia, PA.
