This is a very substantial carved trade sign measuring 36" tall, 22" wide, 3" thick and weighing in at 15 pounds.
The acorn form is roughly carved with "The Acorn" done in relief. The acorn form is painted and the lettering is gilded.
This trade sign was in use in New Orleans in the first half of the 20th century and was removed during a time of revitalization of the downtown area. A bar by the name of "The Acorn" is in business today and it is possible this sign was used by earlier owners of this establishment.
The sign is in very good condition with an early surface.
