Distinctive and well-made, this vintage pair of carved Onyx mask/face earrings looks fabulous when worn. The earrings are handcrafted and signed by the silversmith on each earring. They read Hecho en Mexico 925 D.F. and RRA – the maker’s initials – in a circle. One earring is stamped with the Eagle assay mark for Sterling, numbered 35. RRA is a listed silversmith in The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Bille Hougart on page 93. I think it likely they date to the 1950s/1960s. Each beautifully carved face is bezel set in a Sterling mount with five silver balls adorning both the top and bottom. The earrings have a screw back closure and measure one and an eighth inches long and nearly 5/8 of an inch wide. The condition is excellent. You’ll be admired – and enjoy wearing – this iconic pair of mid century Mexican earrings. $45.00
