This is a magnificent brooch, that, though unsigned, is very likely Czech/Bohemian in origin and dates to the 1920s – 1930s. Dynamically arresting, it features 17 rhubarb colored large oval faceted glass stones, with the largest stone at the center, from which the others radiate outward and surround that center stone – great design! The quality of the workmanship is superb – all stones are prong set, open backed, and gold foiled. The setting is a heavy gilt metal. Large and important, the brooch measures 3 3/8 inches wide, one and three-quarter inches long, and is in very good condition. Some of the stones have slight spotting/darkening, probably from oxidation to the foil backing, as pictured, but the gold backing is remarkably intact, given its likely age of 80+ years. You'll be admired with this special and rare beauty. $125.00
