This is a marvelous and very rare pin by the famed DuJay costume jewelry company that dates to the very early 1940s. It features pave rhinestone pears on a branch with green enamel leaves – each leaf is edged with rhinestones. The dimensionality of the fruit and the undulating leaves is lovely. The pin is unsigned, as was common with the early DuJay jewelry, but I have been able to identify it based on a contemporary advertisement – dated 1941 – for DuJay, which features this pin. The pin is entirely original – there is some loss of enamel on the green leaves, as pictured, and the rhinestones are still shiny and bright. The reverse is pot metal and the clasp works well. This 80+-year-old beauty measures 2 1/2 inches long and slightly more than 2 inches wide. What a classic special brooch – a rare treasure. Well priced. $225.00
