Delicate and finely hand worked, this is an outstanding Chinese export bracelet and pin that likely dates to the 1920s/1930s. It consists of three square center panels and two angular endpieces, each exquisitely made of filigree, in a leaf and flower pattern. It appears to be made of silver – I see no signs of copper peeking through, as one would expect if it were silverplated. As many of you know, Chinese silver was not always the Sterling (.925) standard, and I would think it is likely this set is approximately .800 to .900 silver. Four hand carved and lightly colored bone panels adorn the center of the bracelet and pin. Each depicts a stylish traditionally attired Chinese woman with beautifully articulated features and a carved gown/kimono. The border of the panels depicts flowers. Fabulous imagery! Only the bracelet is signed China, in block letters, on the tongue in box clasp. The bracelet measures six and three-quarter inches long, one and an eighth inch wide at the front panels, and tapers to a half inch at the rear. The brooch measures 1 1/4 inches wide and 1 inch long. It closes with a locking safety clasp. The condition is excellent – the panels are not chipped or cracked and the bracelet’s hinges and the clasp work well. Items of this vintage are so hard to find – delicate and easily damaged, many just did not survive. A nearly 100-year-old treasure – Enjoy! $225.00
