An unusual and well-made pair of sterling silver screw back earrings are centered by a beautifully matched pair of operculum shells. Very popular during Victorian times, these shells are thought to protect one from 'the evil eye'. They are also known as the Pacific Cat's-Eye. I think these distinctive earrings date from the 40s/50s -- they are unmarked except for the sterling mark on the back of the screw. They measure 1 1/8 inch in diameter and are in excellent condition. Different and dramatic -- you'll be noticed in these. $75.00 FANTASTIC PRICE REDUCTION!! NOW $33.00 TERRIFIC BUY!
