What a charming and whimsical pin – I think of this as the ‘Happy Fish’ – it appears as if he is smiling! Beautifully crafted, with clearly articulated bones, he measures 2 ½ inches wide and 7/8 of an inch long. The reverse is signed Sterling 925 Taxco in a circle, with the initials FCM at the center of the circle. FCM is a listed silversmith in The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Bille Hougart on page 84. There is also an Eagle assay mark with an indecipherable number, perhaps a 1 or a 3. The Eagle mark helps us date him to prior to 1980 – my guess would be the 1960s. The condition is excellent. Distinctive and fun, you’ll enjoy wearing this cheerful fellow. Enjoy! $79.00
