This formal 1990s Royal Blue Carol Kaplan evening gown with fabulous silver glass beadwork is in one word, “stunning”! The elegant style of this gown and the marvelous drape of the material is just simply divine. Although the material content is listed as Triacetate (known for it’s resistance to wrinkles) and polyester, it has a silk like quality that as mentioned before, drapes so nicely. The high close neckline has a soft fold over that looks a bit like a stylized turtleneck. The bodice has no bust darts but does have a slightly off center drape towards the left side. The sleeves are long and have a zip closure at the wrist. The drape effect of the bodice continues down the front of the long floor length skirt that is dramatically slit almost to the thigh on the left side. The back of the bodice has an over blouse appearance as can be seen in the photos of the back of the gown. There is a hidden vinyl zipper closure at the back of the gown. The dress is lined in matching Royal Blue polyester material and has modest shoulder pads in each shoulder. And, finally, there’s plenty of sparkle along the waistline and the sleeves provided by all of those hundreds of silvery glass beads and sequins. And, there’s even some dark blue glass bugle beads thrown into the mix for a bit of contrast. The beadwork at the waist creates the illusion of a belt and the sleeves are totally lit up from the glistening silver beads that fill the bands of swirls on that magnificent Royal Blue background. Bottom line, this classic 1990s evening gown can and will be a definite showstopper at any formal affair that you choose to wear it!
Condition: Very Good
The beadwork looks like it’s in wonderful condition with no noticeable missing beads. The gown looks almost as if it has never been worn. I do believe it has been worn but possibly only once or twice at the most. There is really nothing to note in the way of issues with this gorgeous evening gown.
