This traditional style denim jacket was made by Saddle King Western and dates to the 1970s. The denim is 100% cotton machine washable and looks better with each washing! The jacket has lots of orange topstitching that is one of the hallmarks of these ever popular Western style jackets. There are two snaps with a brass button top snap on each cuff and the jacket closes with six of the same button snaps at the front. There are two chest flap pockets on each side of the jacket and those also close with a snap button. And, then there are slash Welt hand pockets on each side of the jacket. The bottom waistband can be adjusted a bit depending on which of the two button snaps you decide to snap. All of the brass buttons are detailed with the company name and logo, Saddle King (over a saddle) and the word Key under the image of the saddle. There is a spread collar and the jacket is unlined.
When looking at the photos of the front of the coat, you will notice what appears to be a very brown spot just above the fourth button. I didn’t even notice this until I viewed the photo and I believe it’s more noticeable in the photos because of the lighting used when taking the pics. After seeing this in the photo, I looked at the jacket and the soiled area really doesn’t look as obvious as it does in the photo, although I could see it! Where the collar has been folded over, there is a lighter area all the way round that’s not seen unless the collar is unfolded. This jacket has been recently machine washed and is clean and ready to wear, but the spot in the front did not completely disappear. With denim, many people prefer these coats when the denim becomes less crisp and more “washed” and “worn” looking in appearance. I think this jacket still has a ways to go before it gets that “machine washed” look.
