Everything about this 70s Yves Saint Laurent black wool (most likely a Cashmere Blend) double breasted blazer exudes classic style that never goes out of fashion. The quality of the materials, the cut of the collar and the many nice finish details make this such a handsome coat for any occasion. This blazer has Peak Lapels which are the most expensive to manufacture and are a little more formal. Peak Lapels are most often found on Blazers. Faux buttonholes are sewn on each of the lapels. There are Besom pockets, welt finished, found on either side of the coat and there is a breast pocket on the left front side. The Blazer closes at the front with four attractive gold plated round buttons that have the personal monogram (MHB) of the previous owner. The same style buttons, only a little bit smaller, are found at the cuff of the coat. These three buttons are not functioning and will not open and close. The blazer is slightly fitted as there are seams on each side of the front of the coat that extend to the top of the Besom pockets. The coat is completely lined in black rayon satin and as you can see from the photo of the inside of the Blazer, the sleeves are lined with a contrasting striped white rayon material. There are three inner pockets that include a flap pocket on the upper right side, a welt pocket on the upper left side and a smaller welt pocket on the lower left side. There is no back vent. This 1970’s Yves Saint Laurent black wool Blazer will be a great addition to any Gentleman’s wardrobe. A silk pocket square placed in the front breast pocket and that’s all he will need to be properly attired for the evening.
Please note that I have lightened the photos of this coat just a little bit in hopes that you may be able to better see the details. Just to let you know, this coat is not faded as it might appear to be in the photos, but instead, the color is dark black.
Condition: Very Good
On the white inner sleeve lining material in the left sleeve around the arm opening, there are six small rust dots. This may have been caused by a metal coat hanger. This coat has been professionally dry cleaned and these spots did not come out. The lower button on the right side of the coat has been re-stitched and whoever did the stitching sewed through the lining and it can be seen unlike the other buttons.
