This large Mr. John Classic natural straw hat has a rather unique combination of flowers adorning one side of this spectacular creation. One large pale apricot Rose in full bloom is the focal point of the sweeping floral display with a smaller orange bloom on each side of this larger one. And, then there are bunches of small white blossoms intermingled with larger pale green flowers. A few small green leaves tinged with burnt orange peek out from under the spray. A lovely orange silk ribbon shaded in green surrounds the base of the dramatically sculpted crown and extends out from under each side of the flowers. The generous brim sweeps up on one side of the hat and seems to match the elegant slant of the crown. The outer brim is nicely wired and covered with a band of woven straw for a nice finish to the brim. The inside of this statement making hat is unlined and has a matching ivory inner grosgrain ribbon hatband. Here’s a lovely Garden Party hat that will be remembered by many admirers for quite some time. This hat would be so pretty for a Kentucky Derby event, too!
Condition: Very Good
There are several issues to mention which have to do with the straw. On the crown there is a very faint mark of discoloration. The spot is small and is barely noticeable except when you are really looking for it. And, toward the back of the hat on the left side near the straw border trim, there is a small hole in the straw. It’s difficult to say what has made this place in the straw. It most likely will not be extremely noticeable either as most people will be looking at all the beautiful blooms on the opposite side of the hat! Finally, there is soiling from makeup on the inner grosgrain ribbon hatband which I hope can be seen in the photo of the inside of the hat. This can only be seen when viewing the inside of the hat and is in no way visible on the outside. Despite these issues, I believe you will be quite satisfied with this gorgeous hat!
