Here’s a vintage 1960’s Ginala sundress and matching jacket made by Ginala and sold originally at Saks Fifth Avenue. Made from a nice quality woven material that resembles linen, the dress has a white top with straps that button with large round white buttons at the back and the skirt has a wonderful linear print of deep orange lines appearing to be woven in an attractive pattern on a white background. And, many thanks to Lisa from Lisa's Vintage Treasures here on Ruby Lane, who has a great knowledge of textiles and patterns, because she has offered more insight into this pattern saying that in the 1960s this was known as Bamboo print! There is an overlapping flap on the front of the skirt and two patch pockets, one on each side. The matching jacket has the same print as the bottom of the skirt and has short sleeves. The jacket closes with 4 round white buttons and the buttonholes are so nicely finished. The jacket is close to being a box style jacket, but it does have seams both front and back which do give it a slightly more fitted style. And, there are seams on the front and back of the dress, too, but no darts at the bustline. The collar on the jacket is notched and there is a side nylon zipper (metal hook and eye at the top of the zipper) on the dress that has a rounded neckline. The jacket is fully lined with white synthetic material and the bodice of the dress is lined and there is a slip lining in the skirt…..attached only at the waistline.
Condition: Very Good
The only thing to note in the way of issues is a very faint spill stain on the front of the jacket between the first and second button and this shows
much more in the photo of the buttons than it actually shows when you see the jacket! I really don’t think it will be noticed at all when being worn.
