Offered for sale is a 1950s 2pc linen suit bearing the label of Brant Leigh Dallas. In doing research on this label, very little was found with the exception of a nice ad from the February 28, 1951 issue of the Lubbock Morning Avalanche which had a great advertisement for a very similar suit. Well, regardless, this charming suit from the 1950s is made from a pleasing shade of brown linen which I will call Pecan Brown…..not too dark brown and not too light brown, but just right brown! The jacket is fitted and has attractive functional nicely trimmed pockets on each side of the jacket just above the bustline. The detailing on the pockets consists of a ribbon like section of beige material bordered on each side with machine made diamond shaped stitches done in the same beige color. The neckline is V-shaped with a notched collar. The ¾ length sleeves have no cuffs. There are small shoulder pads in each shoulder and there are four fabric covered round buttons which close the front of the suit jacket. The jacket is unlined but is nicely finished on the inside, but does have some raw seams. The skirt is made from the same brown linen material and has a metal side zipper closure with a small brown plastic button (faux Mother of Pearl) at the top of the opening. The skirt is not lined. The drape and weight of the material used to make this suit add to it’s versatility as it would be quite appropriate for both Fall and Spring weather and could even be worn on cooler days (or air conditioned buildings) in the Summer! Classic elements of style make this 1950s Brant Leigh 2pc. linen suit a smart choice for today’s fashion!
Condition: Very Good
The linen material shows only the slightest signs of age with very little fading to the color. Having just been professionally dry cleaned, this suit is ready for immediate wear.
