Mesh evening purses have been popular for special occasions for ever so many decades and remain a staple today for elegant affairs. We most often find mesh bags from the famous maker, Whiting and Davis, but this evening purse from the early 1950s is made by a less common maker, Bond Street Ltd., New York, and it is really a lovely one, indeed. This is a small gold tone mesh clutch which is just the right size for the bare essentials that a lady will need on her night out on the town and nothing more.....powder, lipstick, comb and a little dough! Shimmering and sleek this purse is entirely lined with a soft peach colored satin material and has one handy slit compartment. The pretty snap catch is highlighted with bright clear rhinestones and a single pearl center as you can see from the photographs. This little evening purse will add just the right touch of elegance to any vintage outfit that my lady should choose!
Condition: Very Good
The mesh on this purse is in exceptionally fine condition. The clasp is in excellent condition, also. The reason I have given a "Very Good" condition rating instead of "Excellent" is because of several small issues which I will note here. There appears to be a little scuff on the back top side of the frame. This looks as if it might have occurred when the bag was dropped. There is a tiny discoloration mark on the side front frame.....pinhead dot size. On the top of the clasp (not the front that can be seen) there is come discoloration to the metal. The inside of the purse is very clean and appears to have had very little use. Overall, if you were to be carrying this evening purse, no one would notice any of these issues except for you!
