This vintage 1960s Echo silk scarf made in Italy displays a wonderful horse print. It’s subtle but classy and stylish and just right for anyone who loves an equestrian theme. The scarf has a solid center of light tan with an outer band of warm Sienna Brown. In the bottom right hand corner is a square that has a larger horse head image. The background silk in this square is a lighter cream and the horse is chestnut with a white blaze. On the top of the scarf in the opposite corner there is a smaller image of this same horse without the square. The hem is hand rolled and hand sewn.
Condition: Good
When you are just looking at this pretty scarf, you will most likely not notice the issues that I am noting. I have provided photos of the faint marks on the inner solid light tan center of the scarf. These marks are diagonal and are from someone wearing the scarf around the neck. As noted, they are slight in appearance. On the lower left side of the scarf in the same tan area there is a very tiny spot that is slightly visible when scrutinizing the scarf. And, then there are some issues that can’t be seen until the scarf is held to the light. These appear on the top upper left side of the brown border that frames the scarf. These areas are small pin holes in the silk material(approximately 11 that can be seen) and there are 3 very small pulls in the lighter silk near these first mentioned pin holes. On the right side in the brown border midway there are similar areas that appear more as pulls in the silk material. I suspect that these areas were possibly created when the previous owner possibly folded the scarf and secured it with a pin of some sort. Again, when this scarf is being worn or just being viewed, these issues are not extremely noticeable. I did not notice these areas until I held the scarf to the light. This scarf is priced accordingly and will still make a lovely accessory to many outfits. I can just imagine this scarf being worn by it’s owner to horse shows! I like to think that is was well loved and treasured.
The maker’s name, Echo, is incorporated into the lower right hand side of the scarf.
