Vintage 1960s Sterling Silver Elephant Brooch/Pin VPI/Virginia Polytechnic Institute VFG Member - image 1 of 4

This is the cutest sterling silver Elephant brooch that was most likely sold in the college gift shop or bookstore at VPI. This vintage 1960s die struck pin features a smiling Elephant who displays the Virginia Polytechnic Institute’s seal on his vest. The brooch has a locking C-Clasp and the sterling metal has a slightly brushed finish. VPI was founded in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1872 and has become a world class university. This vintage 60’s pin is sure to be the perfect accessory for anyone who is proud to be called a “Hokie”!

Just a side note, being a native Virginian and quite familiar with VPI and the Hokies, I don’t know why this adorable Elephant is the subject of this brooch. The Hokies mascot is a Turkey and I might have thought that might have been the character that would have been the maker’s first choice! But, regardless, it is a sweet tribute to a fine institute of higher learning that many are proud to have attended.

Condition: Very Good
There are no issues to note regarding condition. The brooch has a good working catch and has been well loved and cared for.

The pin is marked STERLING on the underside near the feet of the Elephant.
