This is a beautiful vintage 1960s Mr. John Jr. bubble Toque style hat that has a number of unique details. The top (bubble) of the hat is made from gold satin that is strategically folded and placed on the crown of the hat to create a crown effect. In the center of the actual crown there is a round button that is covered with black satin. I hope you can see from my photos that the placement of the folds on the top of the hat required an accomplished milliner. There is a very thin black netting that covers the gold satin folds and tufts both of which are tucked into a band of black satin that secure the hat to the wearer’s head. The contrast in the black and gold satin material as well as the dramatic style of this vintage hat combine to create quite a stunner. And, then there is the pretty inner blush colored stiffened lace foundation that forms the base for this regal creation. Finally, there is an inner black Petersham sweatband.
Condition: Very Good
There is one issue to note and it’s on the inner black satin band. At the front of the band there is a bit of soiling on the material that was caused by makeup. I have provided a photo of this issue. This slight bit of soiling cannot be seen when the hat is being worn.
