This vintage early 1960s sparkling wiggle dress is made from polyester brocade fabric that has a raised floral pattern and is woven with gold metallic thread. Needless to say, this dress is a sparkler, for sure! The dress has a boat neckline and a scoop back. There are darts at the bustline. The dress closes at the back with a cream colored metal zipper and there is a metal hook and thread loop at the top of this zipper. There’s a slit at the bottom hemline on the back of the dress. The dress is lined with cream colored acetate material. This sleeveless dress is made from a fabric that is very light weight and not heavy at all. There is absolutely no doubt that when you walk into a room wearing this stunning vintage 60s Mr. Cal dress, all eyes will be on you!
Condition: Very Good
This dress is remarkably clean. There are no issues to note regarding the condition of the outside of the dress. The fabric is bright and shiny. The issues that I will describe are on the inner lining. On the back left side near the bottom hemline there is a slit in the acetate fabric that’s 4” long. I suspect that this issue may have been caused when the former owner, wearing her high heel pumps, put the dress on and the heel could have caught in the lining and made the slit. Just a possibility, but of course, there will never be anyway to know that for sure. But, that did happen to me on one occasion so I guess that’s why I thought that could have happened with this dress. In the same area, there are two small frays in the material. And, on the extra flap of acetate material in the front bodice, there are three holes. I actually didn’t notice these while photographing as the lining material of the same color under these holes made them less obvious, so there is not a photograph of these holes. And, finally, on the inner lining at the bottom of the left armhole, there is the slightest bit of soiling which is most likely due to perspiration. You really have to be looking for this last issue to see it. None of the issues that have been noted can be seen when the dress is being worn as they do not appear on the outside fabric.
