Soft and warm this pretty hand made cape/capelet is made from Baby Alpaca. Contrary to what you may think, Baby Alpaca does not come from baby alpacas, but instead from adult alpacas. It is the softest part of an adult and is usually from the chest area of the animal. It’s light weight and warmer than sheep’s wool. Alpaca is usually less prickly than sheep’s wool, too! Baby Alpaca wool is considered to be the second finest alpaca wool and the second most expensive. The finest wool from the alpaca is Royal Alpaca and that is the most expensive of all the alpaca wools. This beautiful cape is a lovely shade of coppery brown and has a Peter Pan collar with a handmade lace detail all around the outer edge. The same detail is around the neck of the collar and extends down the edges of the front opening. This front opening closes with three round covered buttons that match the cape. The trim that resembles crocheted lace also details the bottom hem of this cape. The capelet has a nice drape and will not only be an attractive compliment to so many outfits, it will also provide a bit of warmth while doing so.
