This charming vintage 1950s Parklane Juniors dress is made from a cotton/rayon blend material that’s a pleasing shade of brown. The waist is an empire style and the Ragland sleeves are elbow length and fit close to the arm. At the bottom of each fitted sleeve three small round brown plastic buttons provide a sweet detail. The Peter Pan collar is black velvet for a nice contrast to the brown bodice that actually has an attractive vertical line pattern. On the right side of the front of the bodice there is a little pocket that’s trimmed at the top with black velvet. There are also 10 small round brown buttons that outline the pocket. The skirt is circular and has a black crinoline underneath that can be seen in the photos. The material used for the skirt looks a little like it has a variegated woven appearance. Two large pockets on each side of the front of the skirt are trimmed on one side with 5 small round brown buttons. All of the buttons used for trim on this dress seem to add a little bit of sparkle and it’s obvious that all of these buttons are the original buttons…..no replacements! The waist is fitted. The dress closes at the back with a brown metal zipper and there are two metal hooks that close the back of the collar. All inner seams are pinked and the bottom hem is finished with tape.
This is a dress that I could imagine Audrey Hepburn wearing with a pair of little black flats!
