This is one of the sweetest vintage hats I’ve seen in a while! A vintage 1950s hat that was inspired by a Dutch Girl Bonnet, but with a little more sparkle! The brim of the hat is wired and shaped to feature the face. This part of the hat is made from a stiffened white material with a silver star like pattern in the material. This material makes the hat a bit shiny and contrasted with the black velvet section that comprises the back of the hat, it might have been made for evening wear as it looks quite dressy. The inside and outside of the brim appears to have hundreds of little sparklers that shine when the light hits the material. The outer edge of the brim is also finished with black velvet. The way this hat is made is that there is actually a black velvet cap that this stunning little brim is attached to. Hopefully you will be able to see this in the photos provided. This edge of this inner cap is wired all the way round and is covered in black velvet. The inner hat is lined with black faille material. This vintage 1950s hat is sure to bring many pleasant comments from admirers and many inquiries as to where you found such an adorable creation.
Condition: Very Good
As you can see from the photos, the back of the hat has some ripples in the velvet material when the hat is not being worn. But, when the hat is being worn and pulled snugly onto the head, most of these ripples disappear and will hardly be noticed at all. Also, when looking at the centers of the stars on the silvery white material covering the brim, some appear in some light to have very pale golden centers. Just not sure why this is the case, but at any rate, it does not take away from this lovely little treasure, but instead sort of makes it a little more interesting. Now, there is an issue on the underside of the left turned up wing. There is a little brown spot that is very faint that could be from glue, but not sure on that either. It’s not extremely obtrusive and really not very noticeable unless you know it’s there and are searching for it. There are slight pressure marks in the black velvet on the underside of the hat. This issue has come from the hat just sitting on these areas. This is not uncommon with hats that are made from velvet. Also, there is a pressure mark on the top of the hat on the velvet trim on the center. This, too, is faint.
