Here’s an early 1960s Flower Pot Style hat made from black woven Cello straw adorned with lovely silk and velvet white Roses. The flowers do actually look a little like Gardenias, but because of the velvet petals, I’m going to say they are Roses. The blossoms, along with embossed green satin leaves, encircle the base of the flat crown and make an impressive floral display for both Spring and Summer. The unwired brim is narrow all the way around and barely visible because of the wide swath of flowers. The inner hat is unlined and there is no inner sweatband. This hat is as light as a feather and so very striking with the always stylish contrast of black and white!
Condition: Very Good
As so often happens with vintage silk flowers on vintage hats, there are a few blossoms that have a small bit of fraying on the edges of some of the petals. This in no way detracts from the loveliness of this vintage hat. This is the only minor issue that can be noted with the condition of this hat. It has been very well cared for and stored well over time.
